Pacific Drifter Guide Service: Top Trask River Fishing Guide in the Pacific Northwest

If you're looking for fishing guides on the Trask River, then you’ve come to the right place. The Trask River is one of my favorite rivers to fish, especially for winter steelhead. I’ve spent a lot of time learning about this beautiful Oregon coastal river.

Some of my biggest steelhead each season come from the Trask. As we drift down the river, I'll point out every snag to watch for and every rock that fish tend to hide behind. The Trask River has a vast watershed that collects fresh coastal rainwater from the mountains. This lush rainforest mountain system produces some of the finest species of fish.

Fishing the Trask River is a breathtaking experience, with moss-covered trees, emerald green waters, and some of the hardest-fighting fish the Pacific Northwest has to offer. If you're looking for a scenic fishing trip with some dime bright fish and a guide who knows every inch of the river system, then book your Trask experience and let me show you this beautiful wonderland.

Best Catches of the Trask River

Chinook Salmon

Trask River salmon fishing is amazing. With the river having both a spring and fall run of chinook salmon, fishing opportunities are plentiful. Pound for pound, the Trask River spring chinook are the hardest-fighting coastal salmon I've ever caught.

The spring run starts in late April and runs into September. The fall run starts in August and runs into January.

We can target salmon in Tillamook Bay and the tidewater all the way to the upper stretch of the Trask River. The majority of the fishing occurs in the mid-river section around the hatchery.

Coho Salmon

Trask River coho fishing is a great complement to the fall season experience. They start arriving in September and run through December. We can target coho in the Tillamook Bay Area and tidewater all the way up to the upper stretches of the Trask River.

Targeting coho salmon on the Trask River is extremely fun and productive. The Trask has a very healthy run of coho. The fall run is especially fabulous because both fall Chinook and coho salmon are in the river at the same time.

When solely targeting coho, it's very exciting to catch them on twitching gear — this is probably one of the most fun ways to intercept them. Watching a frantic ocean-run coho fly on top of the water after hooking into it is an experience you will be back for.

Winter Steelhead

Trask River steelhead fishing is exceptional for the winter season. If you're looking for a pristine coastal stream with aggressive and chrome sea-run winter steelhead, then the Trask River is a must-do guided experience. Winter steelhead season starts in late December and runs through early April.

We will be targeting these fresh steelhead from several access points near Tillamook, Oregon. Fishing from either a drift boat or raft, we will have a great time intercepting these amazing fish.

There is nothing more exciting than targeting hot ocean steelhead that just swam up into the river system the night before or came up with the tide. A fresh winter steelhead has clear fins and is covered in sea lice. These fish are aggressive and eager to bite a properly presented offering.
